hoping to bring friendship, happiness, wierdness and fun to the server when I get the opportunity to play.

It's a bird... It's a plane... no, it's poop, run!

Hey there Gizmo old fruity. Welcome to my new asylum, custom rubber wallpaper for discerning tastes.

For those unfamiliar, Giz is an old schoolfriend of mine and a tech-savvy game freak to boot.
He built the box that Yggdrasyl Server presently runs on, at the time a top-of-the-line quad i7.

Speaking of which, I am considering options on enhancing the speed of access to server files.
I could host the Dynmap directory and Server Map on a 4GB RAMdisk partition,
or maybe upgrade to a SSD (64GB maybe, what are they worth?)
or a low-capacity high-speed HDD to isolate the server files on?
Presently the servers are given 2GB of java allotment. Dynmap uses the internal webserver (jetty).
Apache could support Dynmap instead and provide better service, if I can figure it out.

Anyone have suggestions?
Spout is gone for good :( But from the ashes of several projects arises Sponge

http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/parts.PDF

32GB for $60 - cheap experiment to see if it makes any real difference with map read/write times (could run a file defragmented over it every 5-10 minutes so all files are contiguous for faster access / less fragmentation - but might kill SSD a lot faster as too many writes are wrong).

otherwise just transfer the C: OS partition to it for super duper fast booty time.
